Pamela has been named "Thumbtack Top Pro 2017"
Pamela Thomas has been singing and teaching all her life. She has been associated with the New York City Opera for 30 years where she has performed as a soloist and a member of the Associate Chorus in over 25 operas. Pamela has also performed as a soloist in other venues in roles including: Tosca, Mimi, Musetta, Lady Macbeth, Aida, Georgette (Il Tabarro), Countess, Donna Elvira, Zerlina, Cherubino just to name a few. She also has appeared in concerts and recitals throughout the country.
Pamela grew up in Florida and attended Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, graduating with a Bachelor of Music in Voice. She immediately made her way to New York City where she began her graduate studies at Manhattan School of Music. She finally returned to MSM in 2008 to complete her degree and received her Master of Music, Voice in May 2009.
She currently teaches in her studio where she focuses on the Swedish-Italian School of Singing which she has studied with her current teacher and mentor, David Jones. David is a leading pedagogist who is much in demand in the U.S. and Europe as a teacher of voice and a teacher of teachers. Pamela studied acting with Stephen Strimpel at the Herbert Berghof Studios early in her career and continued her Acting/Directing studies with Lenore DeKoven (Columbia University School of the Arts Faculty), one of the preeminent directing/acting teachers in the country.
She is currently Music Director of Good Shepherd-Faith Presbyterian Church in New York City and has performed as soloist and chorister in numerous churches over the years, including St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church where she performed over 30 oratorios.
Pamela maintains a private vocal studio in the Lincoln Center area of Manhattan where she teaches both vocal technique and acting.
